Photographer and photoeditor based in Prague

Dorota Holubová is a portrait and documentary photographer from Bratislava, Slovakia who has been working as a professional freelance photographer for more than 10 years. 

Dorota is currently working as a photoeditor and photoreporter for The Czech News Agency (ČTK) based in Prague, The Czech Republic since February 2024.

She is the winner of the Grand Prix Slovak Press Photo 2023 and member of the international network for female professional photographers Women Photograph.

Dorota studied creative photography at the The Institute of Creative Photography, Silesian University in Opava, Czech republic. She also finished master’s degree at the Faculty of Philosophy, Comenius University in Bratislava. For 8 years she was working as external worker for the Central European House of Photography and she was in organizational team of the international photography festival European Month of Photography in Bratislava. She was the editor in chief of Fotonoviny / Slovak Photonews for three years. 

Her works was published in GUP magazine, MONO, VICE magazine, The Globe and Mail, Der Spiegel, Het Financieele Dagblad, Denník SME, Denník N, The Czech News, Deník Alarm and QYS magazine. She completed a photography internship in Seoul, South Korea and an art residency Cité internationale des arts in Paris and Espacio Pulpo in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. She is represented by the contemporary art gallery A7 Gallery in Slovakia. Among her most famous photo series are Balifornia, Atlas of Women, Disclosed Love, OMG and Adam’s Apples. She exhibited in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Indonesia, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Lithuania and France. Nowadays she is working on her activistic long-term documentary project focused on women, LGBT community and backstage of the art world.

Her exhibition openings in Bratislava were visited by the president of the Slovak republic Zuzana Čaputová, and by the Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.
